Inspection and Testing Plan (ITP)
When a large contract is awarded, the Principal often requires the manufacturer to establish an ITP. An ITP is a quality control document that ensures that work is undertaken to required standards. Through this document we report all inspection and testing requirements applicable to a specific process. The key components of the ITP we develop for clients are:
Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR)
A WPQR is a record of the performance and analysis of a test weld. This document details the processes, actual welding parameters, settings and arc energy input as well as validating materials and consumables used.
A WPQR is essential for the fabrication and welding of key structures where high quality welds and materials are used to Australian and International Code requirements. Some examples of these structures include:
Structural steelwork: building frames, bridges, truck bodies, lifting and mining equipment.
Pressure vessel(fired and unfired)/piping: fuel tanks, steam boilers, gas, oil, air, water and other liquids.
Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
Our team produce the WPS after the initial qualification of the WPQR. This document is a quality control measure which outlines the requirements for the production of sound welds. The WPS provides the instructions and settings for the welding operator derived from the WPQR and allowable essential variables outlined in the standard/code. The purpose of the document is to guide welders to the accepted procedures so that consistent, repeatable and trusted welding techniques are used
Welding Performance Qualification (WPQ)
This document verifies the individual welding operator practical skills to ensure they are capable of performing the welding to the required quality level. After successful testing and assessment the welding operator is deemed to be qualified to the approved welding procedure/code. For example:
Fabrication/Welding Inspection
As Welding Technology Institute of Australia (WTIA)/International Institute of Welding (IIW) Inspectors, our team are qualified to perform 3rd party visual inspections for fabrication & welding to AS 3978 Non Destructive – Visual Inspection of Metal Products and Components.
Our Welding and Fabrication team are also authorised to witness pressure testing of vessels/pipes in accordance with AS 4037 Pressure Equipment Examination & Testing.
We can also liaise with our network NATA approved testing laboratories for Non Destructive (NDT) and Destructive Testing (DT) on behalf of our clients.
